Obituary for Edith Mae Cribb (Hammonds)
Blacksburg -- Edith Mae Hammonds Cribb, 89, of 484 Moss Crossing, passed away on Tuesday, April 26th, 2022, at her daughter's residence.
Born in Chadbourn, NC, she was the widow of William Cribb and the daughter of the late Eddie Hammonds and Lula McPherson Hammonds. Mrs. Cribb worked as a daycare provider. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and cleaning. She loved Southern Gospel music. Christmas was her favorite holiday.
Mrs. Cribb is survived by her daughter, Peggy Blanton McLeymore and husband, Samuel; her son, Jerry Michael Cribb and wife, Brenda; nine grandchildren, Angel Roach (Chris Roach), Kristopher Barnette (Katherine Barnette), Jayci Blanton, Lachelle Crosby (Phillip Crosby), Greg McLeymore, Timmy Cribb (Melinda Cribb), Josh Cribb, Sharon Cribb, Jenny Wallace, and 15 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Lucille Blackmon of Gastonia, NC and Mary Harrelson of Charlotte, NC; her brother, Lonnie Hammonds of Norwood, NC.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Hammonds, Wilbur Hammonds, and Don Hammonds, and her grandson, Scott McLeymore.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 29th, 2022, from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, South Carolina 29702. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30th, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Jack Phillips officiating. Interment will be Monday, May 2, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC. Greg McLeymore, Phillip Crosby, Gary Harrelson, Johnny Stokes, Bobby Goodson, and Pete Gardner will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
