Obituary for Henry Dawson

Blacksburg -- Henry Dawson, 84, of 343 Pearson Street, passed away Thursday, September 5th, 2013, at his residence.

Born in Princeton, WV, Mr. Dawson was the widower of Betty Jean Muncy Dawson and the son of the late Frank James and Mary Bell Dawson. He retired from United States Army and was a member of Trinity Pentecostal in Shelby, NC and Princeton Revival Tabernacle in Princeton, WV.

Mr. Dawson is survived by a daughter, Diane Dawson Combs, and husband, James, of Blacksburg; six grandchildren, Melissa Combs Walker and husband, Chris, Stacey Combs and wife, Tracey Horne Combs, Tony F. Dawson, Michelle Dawson, and David F. Flynn; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Dawson was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Dawson, two brothers, and four sisters.

The family will receive friends Saturday, September 7th, 2013, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Gordon Mortuary. The family will also hold a visitation at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton, WV from 6:00PM - 8:00PM on Sunday, September 8th. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 9th, at 1:00pm in the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Walker and Rev. Joyce Tedder officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton, WV.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to North Shelby School, 1205 Northside Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.

The family will be at the residence.
