Robert Phillip "Phil"  Wilkerson Sr.
Blacksburg -- Robert Phillip "Phil" Wilkerson, Sr., 86, of 204 Dixon Drive, passed away Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017, at his residence.

Born in Hickory Grove, he was the widower of Doris Peek Wilkerson and the son of the late Samuel Hunt Wilkerson and Irma Hood Wilkerson. Mr. Wilkerson was the definition of "people person" and was always involved in his community in various ways. Not only was he a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, he was a former co-owner of Iron City Pharmacy, he was a member of the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department for 49 years, and he was a member of the Buffalo Lodge #202 AFM, as well as the Cherokee Shrine Club. His love of helping and being around people didn't stop there. He was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, served on the local boards for the Palmetto Bank and DSS, and he retired from Hamrick Mills.

Surviving Mr. Wilkerson are two sons, Bob Wilkerson, of the home and Sonny Sealy and wife, Shirley, of Blacksburg, thirteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Wilkerson was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Sealy Phillips; a brother, Carlisle Wilkerson; and three sisters, Beppy Landreth, Eleanor Ashe, and Nan Buckner.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 6th, 2017 at 4:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Blacksburg with Rev. Don Boshell officiating. The interment will be private. Honorary pallbearers will be the present and past members of the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department.
