Gaffney -- Steve Thad Spencer, 70, of 795 Darwin Road, passed away Friday, January 20th, 2017, at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late Oliver Spencer and Vivian Croker Spencer. Mr. Spencer retired from the Gaffney Board of Public Works and was a member of Baptist faith.

Mr. Spencer is survived by four daughters, Tammy Spencer, Kelly Waters, Belinda McSwain, and Amber Mullinax, all of Gaffney; two sons, Cameron Pittman and Gordon Spencer, both of Gaffney; 12 grandchildren, Tony Waters, Jeff Waters, Dustin Waters, Dylan Gibson, Gracie Gibson, Monike Spencer, Austin Bryson, Anna Mullinax, Louis Mullinax, Levi Wooten, Lily Pittman, and Brian Spencer; a special friend, Mary Sue Poole.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Peahuf.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 23rd, 2017, from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, South Carolina 29702. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 24th, 2017 at 3:00 at Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Keith Harrill officiating. Interment will follow at Frederick Memorial Gardens. Cameron Pittman, Dylan Gibson, Tyler Houser, Brian Mosley, JT Philbeck, Christian Reed, Dennis McCraw, and Mark Ellis will serve as pallbearers.

The family will be at the residence.
