Obituary for Ted Huffman

Ted  Huffman
Blacksburg -- Ted Huffman, 67, of 240 Huffman Hill Road, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at his residence.

Born in Blacksburg, Mr. Huffman was the husband of Lara Danilova Huffman of the home and the son of the late Theodore Huffman, Sr. and Mary Magdalene Wilson Huffman. Mr. Huffman was a devoted father and husband, as well as a self-employed contractor, a former vice-chairman of the Cherokee County School Board, he was a former trustee of Antioch Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of the National Guard. He was also a member of First Wesleyan Church of Kings Mountain, where he was a former Sunday School teacher.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Huffman is survived by two sons, Joel Ted Huffman of Gaffney and Timothy Brian Huffman of Blacksburg; two daughters, Emily Huffman Hawkins of Union, SC and Cynthia Huffman Howard of St. Augustine, FL; four grandchildren, Brandon Keith Huffman, Amber Hughes, Makenzie Huffman, and Cheyenne Huffman; one great-granddaughter, Destiny Mae Huffman; three brothers, Houston Huffman of Myrtle Beach, Olin Huffman of Blacksburg, and Calvin Huffman of Blacksburg; and two sisters, Nancy Proctor of Kings Mountain and Christine Bridges of Blacksburg.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Huffman was preceded in death by three brothers, Theodore (J.R.) Huffman, Jr., Clyde Huffman, and William (Buddy) Huffman, Sr., and a sister, Marie Wilson.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 28, 2011 at Gordon Mortuary from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM. Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011, at 1:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Eddie Gray officiating.

The family will be at the residence.
