Obituary for Margaret Helen Bratton (Moss)

Smyrna -- Margaret Helen Moss Bratton, 82, of 1367 Old Chester Road, passed away Tuesday, June 23rd, 2015, at her daughter's home.

Born in Smyrna, she was the widow of Delmar Eugene Bratton and the daughter of the late Harvey Hoyt Moss and Julie Bell McDaniel Moss. Mrs. Bratton retired from textiles and was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Bratton is one daughter, Sylvia Bratton Grigg and husband, Mike, of Smyrna; one grandson, Michael Lee Grigg Jr. and wife, Miranda, of Blacksburg; and one great-grandson, Brooks Michael Grigg, of Blacksburg.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bratton was preceded in death by a son who passed at birth and a sister, Violet Ann Moss Smith, of Charlotte.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 25th, 2015, from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jamie Billings officiating. Interment will follow at Abingdon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Scott Upchurch, Dever Solmon, Dillon Brown, Cecil Martin, Mark McDaniel, Harold Porter, and Yvan Walker will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas, Attn: Development Director 706 Grove Road, Greenville, SC 29605. This is in honor of Mrs. Bratton's great-grandson, Brooks, whom she adored.

The family will be at the home of Sylvia Grigg, 1375 Old Chester Road, Smyrna, SC 29743.
