Obituary for Mary Frances Hardin Denton

Gaffney -- Mary Frances Hardin Denton, 85, formerly of 205 South York Street, Blacksburg, passed away Sunday, March 23rd, 2014, at Peachtree Centre.

Born in Blacksburg, she was the wife of Lamar Denton and the daughter of the late Ernest Jasper Hardin Sr. and Luna Mae Allison Hardin. Mrs. Denton, a 1945 graduate of Blacksburg High School and Palmetto Beauty School, was the last surviving member of eleven siblings. She owned and operated Mary Frances Beauty Shop for forty-two years before retiring. She was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Blacksburg, the VFW Auxiliary Post 4941, and a member of The Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Denton is survived by a son, Frank Denton and wife, Linda, of York, and three grandchildren, Meredith Denton Farias and husband, Juan, of New York City, NY, Alex Denton and wife, Courtney, of Rock Hill, and Allison Denton McMeans and husband, Jeff, of Summerville, SC.

The family will receive friends on March 25th, 2014 from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Graveside services will be held March 26th, 2014 at 11:00 am at Frederick Memorial Gardens with Rev. Scott Hammett and Rev. Ron Bishop officiating.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Park Fund, 103 South Rutherford Street, Blacksburg, SC 29702.

The family will be at her former residence.
