Obituary for Virginia Elizabeth Dickson (Edwards)

Blacksburg -- Jennie Beth Dickson, 74, of 318 Antioch Road, Blacksburg, passed away Thursday, March 7th, 2013 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Blacksburg, Mrs. Dickson was the wife of John Gilbert Dickson of the home and the daughter of the late William Lonnie Edwards and Lillian Wright Edwards. She retired from Eaton Corporation. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she formerly taught Sunday School for 5th and 6th graders and was a member of the choir for several years.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Dickson is survived by one daughter, Angie Dickson Upchurch and spouse Ricky of Blacksburg; two sisters, Gladys Stringfellow and Loretta Curtis, both of Blacksburg; three grandchildren, Kathy Upchurch Hallo and husband Steven of Blacksburg, Kevin Upchurch of Blacksburg, and Nathaniel Dickson of Iron Station, NC. She was preceded in death by one son, Carl Dickson, brother Jimmy Edwards, and sisters Zella Mae Byers and Annie Lee Neal.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 9th, 2013 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 10th, at 3:00pm at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Craig, Rev. Harold Beam, and Rev. Johnathan Cantrell officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be at the residence.
