Obituary for Wayne Pridmore Higgins

Blacksburg -- Wayne Pridmore "Looney" Higgins, 79, of 108 N. Calles Street, passed away Friday, May 12th, 2017, at Peachtree Centre.

Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late Willie Higgins and Margaret Pridmore Higgins Melton. Mr. Higgins was a member of First Baptist Church of Blacksburg. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1959-1963. He attended schools in Gaffney and Blacksburg and graduated from Blacksburg High School in 1957. He attended in North Greenville, Gardner-Webb, Upstate Carolina and various schools while in United States Marine Corp. He worked in consumer finance in North and South Carolina and was past president of Consumer Finance Exchange in Rock Hill.

Surviving Mr. Higgins are a daughter, Karen Elizabeth Higgins, of Carrolton, GA.; his step-father, Vernon Melton of Gaffney; his beloved companion, Janice Wilson; and several cousins.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 20th, 2017, from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, South Carolina 29702. Memorial services will immediately follow at 2:00 pm.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 103 S Rutherford St; Blacksburg, South Carolina 29702 or to Friends of Blacksburg Library, 103 South Rutherford Street, Blacksburg, South Carolina 29702.

The family will be at their respective residences.
