Obituary for James Andrew Hughey

Blacksburg -- James Andrew Hughey, 69, of 513 South Charleston Street, passed away Sunday, July 17th, 2016, at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Carolyn Carroll Hughey and the son of the late Andrew Hughey and Alma Parris Hughey. Mr. Hughey retired as a Doffer and was a member of Cherokee Gospel Tabernacle.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hughey is survived by one son, Andrew Hughey of Lexington, NC; three daughters, Dawn Childers, Nancy Engle and husband, James, and Patricia Carroll and husband, Morris, all of Blacksburg; one brother, David Hughey of Blacksburg; three sisters, Betty Sue Parris, Dana Scruggs, and Debra Adams, all of Gaffney; step-father, Rev. Cecil Willis of Gaffney; and 8 grandchildren.

Mr. Hughey was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Sellars and Hazel Sellars and five brothers, Marshall, Wilburn, Howard, Hubert, and Harlane Hughey.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 19 2016, from 3:00 - 4:00 at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will immediately follow at Gordon Mortuary with Rev. Betty Gentry officiating.

Memorials may be made to Cherokee Gospel Tabernacle, 621 Fourth Street, Gaffney, SC 29340.

The family will be at the residence.
