Obituary for Clyde Leon Humphries

Smyrna -- Clyde Leon Humphries, 80, of 1290 Tanners Road, passed away March 16th, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care.

Born in Blacksburg, he was the husband of Helen Patricia Martin Humphries and the son of the late Clyde Edward Humphries and Era Batchelor Humphries. Mr. Humphries retired as a Maintenance Coordinator at Rock Hill Printing and Finishing and was a member of Broad River Baptist Church of Smyrna. Mr. Humphries was a veteran of the US Air Force having served in Korea. He was a former member of Palmetto 238 AFM.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Humphries is survived by a son, Charles Leon Humphries of Smyrna; two daughters, Patricia Ann Hazelip of Gastonia and Sheila O'Guinn of Winston Salem, NC; a brother, Dawson Dean Humphries of Smyrna; four sisters, Myrtle Childers of Hickory Grove, Francis Moss of Hickory Grove, Geneva Alexander of Bullocks Creek, SC, and Matril Ramsey of York; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will immediately follow at Gordon Mortuary Chapel at 3:00 pm with Rev. Eddie Bolin and Rev. Mike Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow at Broad River Baptist Church Cemetery (Smyrna). Rocky Moss, Stevie Ramsey, Terry Humphries, Brett Brice, Jimmy Wyatt, David Falls, David Falls, Jr., Dustin Peterson, and Mack Wyatt will serve as pallbearers.
