Obituary for Margaret E "Mott" Troublefield (Elliott)

Margaret E. (Mott) Troublefield, 96, formerly of 607 Highland Park Drive, Greenwood, SC, widow of William E. (Bill) Troubefield, Sr., died Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Wesley Commons Health Center.

Born December 10, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Carl Robert and Mabel Ramseur Elliott. A native of Blacksburg, SC, she was a graduate of Blacksburg High School and Cecils Business School and was a retired secretary. Mrs. Troublefield had lived in Greenwood for 36 years. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, a member of the Trinity Sunday School Class, and the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her children, Gloria (Brian) Gordon of Columbia, and W. Ed (Trudy) Troublefield of Greenwood; her grandchildren, Kim (Mark) Williams of Greenwood, Craig (Cherie) Troublefield of Charleston, SC, Greg (Brenda), Tod, Sarah, and Alan (Cyndi) Gordon, all of California, Joel Gordon of Washington State, and Jennifer (Allen Parks) of Campobello; nine great grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; seven step great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and two sisters, Helen E. Riddle of Blacksburg and Joan E. Creech of Mt. Pleasant.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John Malcolm Easterby and Jack R. Elliott; a sister, Jean E. Koon; and a great grandchild.

Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Gordon Mortuary Chapel, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC, with Pastor Phil Thrailkill officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Blacksburg, SC.

The family will receive friends before the service from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Gordon Mortuary.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, 211 North Main Street, Greenwood, SC 29646.

The family members will be at their respective homes.
