I just found out about Ginger's passing and with great sadness I write this. I worked with Ginger for over 10 years on a busy hospital unit in Charlotte. As a new nurse, Ginger was one of the first people to welcome me, her kindness and down to earth demeaner were most appreciated. As the years went by and staff came and went I realized she was that way with everyone. She was always upbeat, personable and spoke to everyone from doctors, staff, visitors, patients and families. She truly was the light of the unit. I was always amazed at how well the unit ran when she worked. She is one of the few people who could do multiple duties at the same time without flinching ( and do them well!) We would all get nervous when she took a very rare sick day or vacation as we knew it would be a pretty rough day without her. I hope she knew just how much she meant to us. I have a whole recipe box of delicious recipes she made throughout the years, from delicious cakes and pies to her famous peanut brittle. Ginger, you were a friend, mentor, role model for so many of us. You will be greatly missed.
